Swedish satellite communications company Ovzon has received a 12-month order worth 90 million SEK (9.1 million USD) from a new, unnamed US government customer. The company announced the order on 28 September. Service is expected to start immediately.
SATCOM services account for 84 million SEK of the order and mobile satellite terminals for 6 million SEK. Service will run on the Ovzon 3 satellite, with third-party satellite capacity added.
Ovzon has not yet booked the full amount. According to the company, it will first record 34 million SEK as order intake in the third quarter of 2026. It will record the rest once formal processing of the full funding is finalised.
The customer selected Ovzon 3 and the company's Orion Service, CEO Per Norén said.
— This order marks a significant new addition to our U.S. customer base and within U.S. federal agencies, he stated.
Chief Commercial Officer Jeanette Irekvist wrote on LinkedIn that winning a customer in the US carries extra weight.
— It reinforces our long engagement with one of Sweden's closest NATO allies and shows that there is still much more we can do together, she wrote.
Ovzon 3 is a geostationary satellite with an on-board processor. It entered commercial service in July 2024. The Stockholm-based company has US offices in Herndon, Virginia, and Tampa, Florida.
