The Swedish Armed Forces held a two-day workshop testing how tactical drones could support surface warfare and multi-domain operations, organised by the Air Force's Experimental Office at the Air Combat School. Operators, experts and decision-makers from the air force and navy took part.
Participants built scenarios and tested multiple drone concepts in a digital "battle lab" that the Experimental Office has built to integrate different simulations and data sources, according to the Armed Forces. Naval staff, ship crews, helicopter pilots and simulator developers contributed their perspectives, including personnel from the 41st Corvette Division.
Marcus Tynnhammar, head of the Air Force Experimental Office, said: "This way we save both time and money." Jonathan Myhr, who initiated and led the launch of the air force's experiment office, said the goal is to "build a capability for capability development," so the organisation can adapt as the security situation changes.
A participant from the 41st Corvette Division said the workshop showed the Armed Forces "doing what we're best at," tearing down walls between branches to work toward the same goal.
