Rugged TOUGHBOOK G2 selected for a new version of industry-leading rotor track and balance application, increasing efficiency and accuracy for aircraft maintenance teams.
Bracknell, United Kingdom. 15 September 2026 – Panasonic TOUGHBOOK G2 has been selected as the platform for GE Aerospace's next-generation Rotor Analysis and Diagnostic System (RADS-NG), a new rotor track and balance (RT&B) solution that enables aircraft maintenance teams to easily and accurately diagnose problems.
RADS-NG consists of a compact Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) and Optical Blade Tracker, which measures and monitors the movement and alignment of the rotor blades as they pass through its field of view. This makes it possible to determine the track spread and lag of each blade.
The DAU collects data from all sensors and the Optical Blade Tracker, and displays this via the Control and Display Unit (CADU) application on the TOUGHBOOK G2. This enables maintenance teams to easily visualise the vibration levels of rotor blades and hubs and balance the blades accurately with just a few clicks.
Modernising rotor diagnostics with Panasonic
The G2 has a 10.1-inch touchscreen and unmatched modularity for extensive customisation, and is tested to MIL-STD-810H standards to withstand drops, shocks, vibrations and extreme temperatures. The glove-compatible touchscreen makes it possible to seamlessly run the CADU application while rotor maintenance is underway. Compared to the previous solution, the G2's compact form factor and rugged exterior make it easy to hold and use during maintenance flights.
GE Aerospace, a global leader in jet engines, avionics and aerospace systems, collaborated with Panasonic-approved Premier Partner, Mem-Star Rugged, to deliver the purpose-built solution.
